Congratulations Sharon Owens!

You’ve won the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Bracket!

2011 is starting off to be a very productive year for SRI! Business Development Director Jeff Kemper and Vice President Brad Engler are in Colorado this week conducting demonstrations of our newly upgraded internet tax sale system for several counties. We are excited to attend several national and state association conferences this spring and summer to show off that new internet auction system! For more information, see Brad’s article in this edition of the eNewsletter. We also look forward to attending the National Sheriffs’ Association conference in St. Louis from June 18-22. We welcome the opportunity to share with as many Indiana County Sheriffs as possible the cost-effective and efficient work we perform on their behalf in handling foreclosure sales. As a “Preferred Vendor” of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association, we take great pride in serving our 29 Indiana County Sheriffs and relieving them of the administrative burden of processing foreclosure cases. Make sure you read Cindy Edmiston’s article in this edition of the eNewsletter about calculating Sheriff’s Sale costs.

Also, this spring has seen an increase in the number of Indiana County Commissioners’ Certificate Sales that we conduct for counties interested in selling tax liens at a discounted minimum bid on properties remaining unsold from a prior County Tax Sale. To date in 2011, SRI has conducted 25 Commissioners’ Certificate Sales – 12 of which have been conducted on the internet. So far this year, we have helped our clients collect over $6.4 million in delinquent property taxes! We still have 12 more Commissioners’ Certificate Sales scheduled to complete between now and June 30. Commissioners’ Certificate Sales are a great tool to collect unpaid taxes and return delinquent properties back to the property tax rolls. See Clair Schaler’s article in this edition about surplus from a Commissioners’ Certificate Sale.

On April 13, we conducted our first Indiana County Tax Sale of 2011 and our first ever Jennings County (Ind.) Tax Sale! We are grateful to Jennings County Auditor Janice Ramey, County Treasurer Sandra (Sandy) Vance, and the County Commissioners for the opportunity to assist Jennings County in the collection of their delinquent property taxes. The Jennings County Tax Sale resulted in the collection of over $1.1 million in delinquent property taxes for the County and local taxing units! A total of 701 parcels were paid in full prior to or sold at the tax sale. Currently, we have County Tax Sale dates set for an additional 26 Indiana counties this autumn with at least 51 more to schedule over the coming weeks.

I welcome feedback on how we are doing. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or comments at trushenberg@sri-taxsale.com or (800) 800-9588.

Make A Wish of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana would like to take a moment to highlight two very important people in honor of National Volunteer Week. Make A Wish is a foundation that grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions. Their mission is to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. We are proud to honor two of our own employees at SRI, Jessica Stranger and Sarah Lux for their hard work, dedication, and time as volunteer wish granters to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Jessica is a project manager and has worked at SRI for seven years. Sarah was recently hired in December 2010 as a client support specialist. These two women have a huge impact on this company. Vice President Brad Engler said, “This is a wonderful thing that Jessica and Sarah are doing. We should all remember how truly fortunate we are to have our health and that we need to remember those who are not as fortunate as we are.”
